Betty J. Narhi, 71, a resident of Chassell passed away Sunday Morning, May 28, 2017 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock following a lengthy illness.
She was born on October 17, 1945 in Painesdale and was raised by the late Stephen and Jeanette Austin. She grew up in the Painesdale and Chassell and graduated from The Jeffers High School with the class of 1963. After school, Betty had worked as a CNA St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hancock and at Sherman West Court in Elgin, Illinois. Betty was united in marriage to Erland Narhi on November 4, 1967. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2005.
Betty was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Chassell. She was known as a professional volunteer for her work with the “Let’s Eat” organization at Holy Trinity Church in Chassell and being known as “Aunt Betty” volunteering at the Houghton Elementary School. Betty loved quilting, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her husband and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by Jean Oates, Lois Adams, Joyce Austin, Donald Austin and Darla Narhi.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Wednesday May 31, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Chassell with Fr. Ben Hasse to celebrate.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Chassell from 5-8pm where a prayer service will be held at 7:45pm.
